Mar. 13th-Sue Chan: Pollinator Garden Design

Sue Chan is our local “bee expert.”  We’re thrilled to have her back. Her enthusiasm for these little pollinators is contagious!  Sue will talk about the importance of pollinators and also give us some tips on designing the perfect pollinator garden.  You’ll have all the tools and tips in hand to attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden!

Susan Chan is Project Manager for Farms at Work, a non-profit regional project working for healthy and active farms in central Ontario.

She holds a B.Sc (Agriculture) from McGill, an M.Sc in Environmental Biology from the University of Guelph, and a B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario. This formal academic training coincides with her life-long commitment to integrating principles of environmental sustainability and respect for the natural world into the fields of agriculture and education. Susan has worked in the Kawartha’s to facilitate the delivery of educational resources to farmers, and is working with Fleming College on development of curriculum in its innovative Sustainable Agriculture Program. She is a beekeeper and is an executive member of the Central Ontario Beekeepers Association. She also is the co-organizer of a new producer-based, local-only farmers’ market in Lakefield, Ontario.
