WHAT DO WE DO?

One of the "Good Deeds" that the Horticultural Society undertakes every year is the beautification of the Village of Lakefield. We purchase over 20 hanging baskets which are placed around the Village along with filling many of the gardens with wonderful flowers. All of these flowers are purchased by the Horticultural Society and planted by volunteers of the Society.

The society also provides an Education award each year (as funds allow) for a student pursuing an education in the horticultural or environmental field.  Application form is available at this link: Education award

The major fundraisers for these Good Deeds are the Antique and Flower Show and Sale held in August plus two plant sales.  One in May and one in August. Please support these events and sales to continue the society's ability to beautify your Village.

The pictures below are of the library bed, the community centre bed and one of the hanging baskets seen along the main streets of Lakefield.

The Horticultural Society has purchased their plants from Greenhouse on the River in Lakefield for a number of years.

The Society also encourages local businesses to beautify their own properties.
The Lakefield Pantry
has decorated their store with some beautiful and long lasting window boxes and In a Nuttshell creates a stunning floral arrangement in their compact street side garden each year.

Special thanks go to the Village of Lakefield for watering the hanging baskets each year.  If it weren't for this effort of the Village staff, the baskets would not look nearly so beautiful. Your efforts are very much appreciated by The Lakefield & District Horticultural Society and the residents and visitors to Lakefield.
